Madeline G. Theophilus is an associate attorney at Hach Rose Schirripa & Cheverie LLP, practicing in the area of complex civil litigation with a particular focus on advocating for survivors of sexual abuse and assault. Her experience in both prosecution and civil advocacy provides her with a comprehensive understanding of the legal system from multiple perspectives.
Ms. Theophilus is admitted to the Bar of the State of New York. Before joining the firm, she began her career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Special Prosecutions Division of the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office. During law school, she worked as an intern for the Human Rights and Special Protections Section and the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section within the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice, where she focused on prosecuting human rights violations and the sexual abuse and exploitation of children.
Ms. Theophilus holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and History from Drake University. While at Drake, she served as an advocate for survivors of sexual assault and intimate partner violence. She earned her Juris Doctor from The George Washington University Law School, where she served as the Assistant Director of the Office of Student Advocacy. Her dedication to pro bono service was recognized with the George Washington University Law School Pro Bono Service Award and the President’s Volunteer Service Award.
